I had the head fall off my mammoth sunflower before it could ripen. It looks like a bug caused it because the stem is brown. My question is will the seeds just rot now or will the head still dry up and get ripe seeds? What can I do?

If the seeds are still immature....they will not ripen to their full potiental....

I am sad that they wont ripen because the head was so huge ): I was hoping for a birdie buffet.

They may not ripen fully to germinable state, but will probably still be suitable for bird food.
