Hello! (pretty much a plant newbie!) I purchased this little succulent a few weeks back. I'm not sure of the species or variation- but believe it could be a haworthia cooperi var. pilifera?? It has some sentimental value and would like to make sure it prosper in my house. From what I understand, it needs filtered light (light shade to complete shade). It also needs very porous soil w/ excellent drainage. Is it time to repot? (twice the size of original pot?) Is Shultz "Cactus & Succulent Potting Mix" suitable? (reed-sedge peat, sphagnum peat moss, perlite, washed sand). I noticed on a Google image search that almost all of the haworthia species were planted in pebble type potting mix? Thanks so much for your help! My first post here! Uncle Jesse
Your potting mix is a good choice. Use a clay pot if you can. It look like a haworthia but I couldn't tell you which one. The pebbles you see might be used as a topdressing to look nice and stop soil from floating/splashing when you water.
I was thinking Haworthia obtusa, but looking it up...I'm finding conflicting info/names...so that may not be a valid name. You may want to repot-just to get it out of the type of soil it came in.
