I have a small Haworthia fasciata that I've recently moved to a new location where it gets some direct afternoon sun, and it has turned quite reddish, except for the new growth which is still bright green. Its parent plant is still in the old location (diffuse sunlight in late afternoon only) and remains dark green. Is the reddish colour a result of increased sun, similar to Jade plants? Is it indicative of too much sun, or is it okay? Thanks! ..tuula
The red coloration is most likely a result of the increased light. Haworthias are high light plants, so they should be fine in a direct sun setting.
Your Haworthia fasciata does not like direct sun. That is the reason it has turned red. Haworthias enjoy very bright light but never put them in direct sunshine. If you move it to a better location away from the sun it will go back to its original green color.
