Hello all, I'm new to this forum. I have posted my plant picture to a lot's of forum but nobody can ID my plant. The info I have: I found the seed in the Waimea waterfall botanic garden in Oahu,Hawaii, on July, this year. The seed was 4cm long, with a dark-brown leather like skin. No pulp. The seed rooted 1 week after i put it into soil and they are now 40 cm (from july the 10th to today). I live in Japan. See attachment for the pictures. I hope someone will have a clue. Ps: It's NOT a mango tree.
The seed reminds me of Terminalia Catappa "the tropical almond". The leaves are different from the ones i have at home though.
I think this has to be some kind of terminalia. The problem is only one is very popular "catappa". There are like 100 of species in this genus and most of them are in danger of extintion. But definitely not the leaves of catappa. One of these could be it. Terminalia Chebula http://herbal-pills.org/images/Terminalia chebula.jpg Terminalia Amazonia http://www.fincaleola.com/images/Terminalia amazonia roble coral seedling.jpg These bellow are not it! Terminalia Arjuna.(leaves look a lot alike but the fruit is completely different) Terminalia catappa is not it. 98 more to go. I think you should ask in a hawaian forum if they know that plant or the list of terminalias grown in hawaii and that park. All i can do is narrow the search a bit.
