I just bought a house, she had these planted... Need help identifying.. and maintenance if any, on them too please!! Thank you!!!!
#1 Wisteria #2 Convallaria majalis #3 maybe Lonicera #4 photo too blurry for my bad eyes #5 Aquilegia #6 Lysimachia #7 don't know, closeup may help with ID #8 Ilex opaca #9 Rhododendron #10 Syringa vulgaris
thanks for identifying some of those.... you didn't get em all , but you sure got a lot identified for me!!! thanks soo much...
#11 Malus sylvestris? maybe. Others more expert with trees will probably correct that. Common name Crab apple, an ancestor of the present day Apple trees. Harry
I don't think the first one (purple top left) is wisteria. the flowers are too tubular and not "lipped" like the typical legume flower. Wisteria is also not in up right flower heads. the foliage if it is associated with the flowers is not typical of a wisteria either. sorry L.Plant just IMHO!!
Also the one Id'd as a syringa (its got a purplish background plant 010.jpg) I think we are dealing with a compound leaf here and not a set of true leaves. if you look at the bottom left you see a petiole and what looks like a bud in the axil.
Re: retakes I think David from LA is correct in that purple.jpg is a vetch. Either Vicia cracca or perhaps Vicia villosa? (my suggestion). Both have the one-sided inflorescence. Given David from LA's propensity to be correct, I would look at his suggestion first. :) Harry
#3 and #10 are the dreaded Ailanthus altissima (a seedling and mature plant respectively) #4 might be as well
These plants are EVERYWHERE in my yard!!!! They're ugly.. anyway to rid of them... I also have IVY... it's not everywhere, but it is... the lady before us, has some sort of fascination I guess with plants that cling and destroy .. dunooooo weirdo
