I've been working for quite a while on a page for Philodendron callosum. There is little information in any of the botanical texts on this species. If anyone has had experience with the Philodendron I'd appreciate your input. If you will allow me to quote passages that will enhance the page I'll gladly give you credit.

This is what I've learned so far:

I'm still waiting for photos from French Guiana so the page has not been published to the web just yet. But you can see it on the blind link above.

    Thanks!

In the Venezuela Issue of Aroideana , it states this species grows terrestrially , and over rocks . I have been growing it for many years in pots of dirt . Mine is a little diferent to LariAnnes .

Thanks Mic. Leland did point out there are at least 3 known variations. He also has had success growing them terrestrially as does LariAnn. I'm not sure exactly what that means since Joep pointed out several times in one email they don't grow well in soil, at least in his experience. I did find quotes in Tom's journals about the species bing more common as an epiphyte as opposed to a terrestrial. That may mean some variations do actually grow better in soil and some as epiphytes.

That is partly why I'm asking the question. Can I lift your photo and use it along with your quote? If you prefer, just send me a quote along with the photo and I'll use it in the piece. I'll check Tom's article on Venezuela.

    Thanks again!
