This winter was brutal yet in my Port Coquitlam garden a Gerbera that I planted for some annual colour survived the winter, it has sprouted this spring is sending up its first flower stem. What is the best way to propagate?

I have done a little research on Gerber daisies and the oly way I know is from seeds...
The seed needs light to germinate, high humidity (a glass cover helps) and the temprature should be about 75 degrees F. I just started abunch of them early this spring.
    Good luck!

Only tender plants were killed last winter, "brutal" in this region is below 10F. When you move away from salt water temperatures near 0F or even below are not that rare rather close in. While gerberas ARE tender maybe the situation there, including perhaps temperatures being higher on your site than farther inland - or it being planted next to a wall, with an overhang - or otherwise sheltered - allowed it to survive.
