I've been searching for a source for C. panzhihouensis plants in Canada. Does anyone know a source commercial or private where this plant is being grown and who might part with one?
Yes, try Lori at Jurassic Plants Nursery www.jurassicplantsnursery.com As a side note, Lori will be speaking and providing a presentaion tonight (March23), 7:30pm at Van Duesen Gardens in Vancouver. This is part of the Pacific Northwest Palms and Exotics Society spring meeting and there may be a small fee for non members or free with a paid membership. Apparently Lori will be bringing a few cycads for sale along with her. Cheers, LPN.
Thanks for the heads-up on the Jurassic Nursery. Coincidentally, along with the fact that Lori was presenting tonight at VanDuzen, I found a seven-year-old blog yesterday where someone name Lori was looking for C. panzhihouensis seeds and was planning to open up a nursery on the Sunshine Coast. Huh? Anyway, thanks again. Now I know the name of the nursery. Mark
P.S. We have a place on Salt Spring Island and have been trying different hardy tropicals including palms. We've just brought through, for their first winter, one Chamaerops humilis v. cerasifera and one Butia capitata with no damage to the first and minimal damage to the second. Could you reccommend any others that might be worth trying and where we could find them?
If you've spent anytime on Salt Spring Island, you'll know or have to get to know, Banana Joe. He's the go-to-guru for palms and exotics there. He can get you sorted out with any new atempts. Cheers, LPN (Barrie)
Thanks again. We have heard of Banana Joe. My friend has met him. I'm not sure where to find him, but it's a small island. Mark
