Hardiness of Metrosideros umbellata

    It was posted on another thread on this forum that they're doing really well this year, because everyone is drinking more citrus juice to get vitamin C, as they hope it will protect them from swine 'flu

    I obtained two of the Metrosideros umbellata from a Portland Oregon nursery. After some searching it is hardy in Portland and Eugene Oregon. I'm sure that in coastal BC up to the Charlottes it would succede.
    It is hardy to about 20F/-7C maybe hardier. I'd grow it only in coastal cool climates. It want year around moisture and hate temps over say 85F/30C.
