I have 12' (the length) by 6'(the width of the area) that I have to hide from view of a fence and behind the fence-a parking spot. The deck comes out to the edge of the space-so I need something narrow and dense. I am designing a Japanese-influenced backyard which is south facing. I would like it to be an evergreen,plant- or at least break up the winter view of the fence from the house's back window. Also, it borders the outward looking area of the deck, so it need to be aesthetic. Help!
I've seen trellis before that fit themes like yours, but not with diamond or diagonals. Those were made with horizontal and vertical placed lengths of cedar: not much bigger than 1" to 2" diameter, except the support posts. And the openings were bigger, like 6" squares, rather than 2" diamond shapes. You could grow a vine on it. That would allow the planting to be very narrow if you prune it at least once per year.
Hi Catmunn, Two evergreen shrubs come to mind. You will have to check the hardiness zones on these.
