   I have hard pan soil that runs from one to three feet deep beneath my back yard lawn,The grass is green but after watering the water lays on top of the soil for haft of the day and resembles a swamp. Is there any thing that can be done to rectify the problem?

   Install drain lines. You need a lower area to drain the water into for this to work.
