i need some good advise, i have a plot of land on the bottom part of a garden. its 1,000 m2, plus the villa being built is 100 m2 and the terrace is 20 m2. now i want steps comming down to a lawn, but because its a slope, will the garden need to be steped all the way down? i have a picture of plot, but not sure how to put it in this thread? ... around the edge of garden, i want to plant palm trees, now because its on a mountain, will holes need to be drilled and filled with top soil? and how can i create drainage? Gary
Re: I need HELP planning my new garden sorry about mistake, its a 1,000 m2 plot on the bottom part of a mountain.
Re: I need HELP planning my new garden Hi Gary, Here's the directions in 'Attachments' for attaching a picture. http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/faq.php?faq=vb_read_and_post#faq_vb_attachment_explain I would also suggest you edit your post and remove your e-mail address. Showing your e-mail address in a public is how you can get spam. Newt
Re: I need HELP planning my new garden the top left pic, shows plot better, its to the right of villa, and 1,000 m2 of land going down right of road, bottom left of pic, can land be made level, or how can it be steped? also question about palms? Gary
Re: I need HELP planning my new garden Gary, your new home looks like it will be gorgeous!! What spectacular views. I would think that the land could be terraced for a lawn and whatever else you desire, but I wouldn't dare do that without the services of a landscape architect. That's a very complicated site. It also looks like it's mostly rock. Not sure what palms you could grow there. Newt
Re: I need HELP planning my new garden Yes, definitely someone qualified in structural matters should be advising you. By the way Gary, you should probably start a new thread here on the forum when you have a new question.
Re: I need HELP planning my new garden Karin, I agree this should have been a new thread. I had no idea what a complicated site it was. I'll ask Admin to split the thread. Newt
Reminds me of our area, with a less trees and smaller hills. There are two ways to get down a hill. One, is steps. The other is sloped paths that zig zag back and forth. Often, those can be added without any steps. But the zig zag path will probably need some stones stacked up on the uphill side to hold back rock and earth. I prefer the zig zag. Want to see a huge version of Zig Zag? In my album, see #46 to #49 >> CLICK #47 for slideshow, then CLICK the tiny text under the frame that says "original"..... http://www.mdvaden.com/album_Oregon.shtml Can you see the zig zag trail on the side? That's Beacon Rock, north of here, and the trail zig zags about 70% of the way up. If you did the enlargements right, the image should fill your entire screen.
