Hi, impressed by the knowledge of persons on this board, hope some of you can help my Lemon.

My poor lemon tree is suffering, but only half of it. The tree is at least 10yr old (prob much older) and I think it is a Meyer. We are in Brisbane Australia and it has only just started to drop below 20°C. The tree has two major branches splitting about 8" above the ground, each trunk is about 3" diam.

1 branch is almost perfect, green and with good fruit. Only a few withered & curling new leaves.

The other branch has lots of split bark with sap dripping out. It's leaves went yellow and have now all fallen off. The poor branch also had a lot of Gall Wasp (nodules) which I have pruned out. I think from reading this forum that the leaf drop is caused by root rot, so I cleaned away the garden from the base of the tree and have stopped watering it (both bad, only now do I know this!).

My question is, what should I do now? Let it be, or prune back further or take the whole branch off? Pics included.

Thanks very much to anyone who can help.

    Dave
