Copper beech in the ground for three years, appx 15 ft in height was moved in August 2004. We have been away for 2 years and have come back and the tree is showing stress: some branches dead and dry, some branches partly dead with 40-70% leaf coverage, crown looks dead. There is some new growth on the trunk. Leaves which are on branches are not near the tips of branches. Leaves which are out are healthy.

Summer 2005 was very hot and dry, this summer has been hot but lots of rain.

We love this tree, what should we do from here? (pic enclosed)

Beech is drought sensitive - almost certainly the 2005 drought is to blame.
