I noticed in the discussion associated with last weeks photo of the day (Gunnera tinctoria) a reference to a Columbian species with no named identification of what that species is. My AHS A-Z reference says G. manicata occurs from Columbia to Brazil, so perhaps this, or a sub-species was the species in question?

    Now another related question:

I took the following photo of a plant growing wild at about 8,000 ft. elevation, along the Sendero Los Quetzales, on the north side of Volcan Baru in Panama. It appears to me to be some form of Gunnera or related plant (though I'm no plant ID. expert). Perhaps someone who is can identify it.

Does resemble one. There are approximately 40 species.

Further reading of the photo of the day comments revealed there are two Columbian species of Gunnera (see article by Wanntorp & Kallersjo) identified as G. brephogea and the species formerly classified as G. manicata, which is now in need of a new description. I'm guessing, based on the close proximity to Columbia, that the plant I photographed may be one of these two.
