I'm off from work today with time to kill. I looked around the yard for some plants that may be somewhat difficult to identify. I know them all of course, they are mine. Good Luck.
1. looks like Alpinia of some sort. Maybe A. spectabilis? I'm no good with conifers, so I'll leave the other to Ron or Michael.
re 1. looks like Alpinia of some sort. Maybe A. spectabilis? you're very close I'll see if someone else gets it before I tell you
Zingiber officinale is correct. Just a common ginger from a grocery store rhizome. Close on the larger pine but not right. The smaller pine is a different species. Pictures 3 and 4 are of a conifer not a flowering plant - but I grant you it does look a little like a bottlebrush.
Fellow Lorax, if that's Z. officianale, you need to get it into some shade. The leaves should be a great deal broader; it only looks like that here when it's grown in full sun.
Thanks lorax Ill move it. As for pinus pinea that is correct. The conifer is not cephalotaxus however.
First two conifers are a Keteleeria. Third conifer is probably a pinyon, maybe Pinus remota? Last conifer is Pinus pinea.
too late they've all been identified correctly. For completeness they are all as follows: 1 and 2 - Zingiber officianale - Common ginger 3 and 4 - Keteleeria evelyniana - don't know a common name 5 - Pinus remota - papershell pinyon 6 - Pinus pinea - Italian stone pine Thanks for playing I'll have to try harder to stump the group next time.
