Might be of interest, especially if you live in the local area. A feature article in the Vancouver Courier on Clive Justice (the father of Douglas Justice who pops by the forums from time to time): Guardian of the Green
I was interested enough to read most of it. Once saw Clive speak at VanDusen about 1980 Sino-Himalyan Expedition. I wasn't bearded and gray then either. The cedars in the picture at the top of the column look to be 'Zebrina'.
Amazing story. Most communities don't have a feeling of "heritage landscaping," and the towns I know of that rallied around such a theme did so for a single old tree. Most of the time, the tree became a symbol of fight against a commercial development. In one case I remember the tree, the symbol, survived but the big box retail project went in anyway. I also think of Chicago's elevated train, but with mixed feelings. I love the transit system. The odd underground communities are interesting. However, the El has really warped the street community. Be sure to follow the link to: www.savecambie.org. It is interesting, too. Residents there are lucky. Ron, fewer mirrors around the house has resolved my issues with the greying of my beard. Also, there are no mirrors in my garden.
It also helps to surround oneself with those who are greyer. Works for weight issues as well. Guardian of the grey.
