We live in Victoria. Can any one help id these ugly little grubs they are a copper/brown colour about 1" long and 1/2" thick and shaped something like an elongated acorn, we have dozens of them in our soil.

    Are they harmful?

What is the best way to manage them?

    thanks

it may be the pupa stage of cutworm. I see them a lot at this time of year mainly under lawns but also in garden areas. they are about 1 inch long, brown in color and if you give them a gentle squeeze their back end (the pointy end) starts to gyrate.
