Hello, My neighbor has noticed a large growth on his windmill palm. Is this a fruit that the palm produces??? He is tempted to cut it off, but has agreed to wait until we hopefully find out what it is. If it is a fruit, is it edible?? Thank you

It sounds like an inflorescence or flower cluster.

Okay, thank you. If it is a flower, it seems to be encased in what appears to be similar to a coconut. Does that sound right???
