I planted a Russian Olive 1-2 years ago in my south-facing, oceanside garden just south of Powell River, B.C. The soil was very sandy, although I have been amending it with horse manure for 2-3 years now. The tree did not seem to grow or have much foliage, and did not flower or set the berries that are described. When I search for info about this plant, I read dire warnings about how invasive it is, how trouble-free to grow, how it doesn't need water or nutrition apparently and will take over the landscape if you let it. This has not been my experience. Today I simply dug it up and put it in a large pot and plan to try it on my deck. Have I made a big mistake?
