    Hi!

I read about growing orchids from seeds. I was wondering where I can buy the agar necessary to do that. Thank you,

    Wendy

I'm sure there are other places that sell the orchid media, but here is one.

    Sigma-Aldrich

Before you try growing orchids from seed I would recommend that you try to visit a commercial grower in or near your area that is propagating orchids using agar type cultures. Most of these cultures involve meristems and not seeds as seeds seem to need the presence of an associated and specific fungus that will penetrate the embryo and provide a link to nourishment. You would most likely need to grow the fungus and this is the major snag of growing from seed even in agar.
So check out the commercial enterprises and it will be a trip worthwhile!
