I'd like to share some interesting local resources on growing your own mushrooms. I'm not affiliated with either of them, but I'm a fan of what they do :-). So far I've grown oyster mushrooms once, from a spawn bag provided for me, which was a fun and tasty experience. But I'm hoping to venture into growing Grifola and/or Shiitake this year, perhaps with a bit more DIY - I'm impressed by what Fish Dr. has accomplished mycoculturally. 1. The Backyard Bounty Collective http://www.backyardbountycollective.com/ is an interesting new Vancouver organization intending to empowering people with tools/resources/support to use their own backyards for mushroom growing, beekeeping, aquaculture and so forth. 2. Western Biologicals runs mushroom growing workshops regularly, and I notice one coming up on March 20. 604-856-3339 E: westernb@shaw.ca cheers, frog
