does anyone have any experience growing lemongrass and is it perennial? Put two stalks in water in the windowsill but nothing happened yet. Be interested to hear, many thanks.

I've always found it to be a perennial for me, but be aware that I live in the tropics. I will say that it goes invasive very easily, and I suspect that once you get roots from your stalks, it would be best to pot it up. That way you can leave it outdoors in the summertime, and bring it in for the winter.

    hi,

I've started off lemongrass (bought from the shop) in water just like you. It takes a long time before it produces any roots, but all the shoots do eventually root out. I grow it in a pot as here in Portugal it is very definitely perennial and uncontrolled it gets to be a very large clump - difficult to control and difficult to remove. I have also grown it in a pot on a windowsill in Ireland and again it was perennial - but rather sad in winter.

    Good luck
    Brian
