Growing into grass

    Could someone id this one for me? Growing at edge of grass and spreading into it. About 2" tall currently, slightly fuzzy, sage like leaves.Thank you.

    I'm not a botanist or anything, just a novice gardener, but that looks a lot like a lavender plant that I have. I'm sure someone with more experience will correct me if I'm wrong.

    I thought that too, but wasn't so sure because the leaves seemed to fan out more than what I've seen and don't have the distinct aroma. There are non edible varieties I hear, perhaps some that are lower growing and spread.

    Hmmm, seems less clustered than images i see of townsendia. Here is an image from the top, I had put some in a pot, they are growing at a friends place.
