I am interested in growing blue berries in our back yard and am wondering if I should plant more than one bush and if they should be different varities. ?? I have room for two or three.

I can only tell you how we had them many years ago at home. Grown in acid soil with a drip feed. Trying to replicate bog conditions. Our soil was naturallyly acidic so you may have to do something to get it that way. I have seen pine needles mentioned. From memory there were a good half dozen to 10 bushes in a normal vegetable length bed about 4 ft wide and probably 10 or 12 foot long. They were inside a berry shed in full sun.
There is a bit on soil etc in here

You need to plant more than one bush and you need more that one kind so they can cross pollinate. You should plant in acidic soil with good drainage.
