About 1 1/2 weeks ago I wanted to see if the seeds from a papaya fruit would grow. I took a plastic container (about 4 1/2" deep) from the spring mix that I buy, punched some holes in the top cover, put some planting soil in, & snapped the top back on to form a neat little greenhouse.

The seeds are sprouting now but growing very spindly, like a long thin bean sprout. I tried looking on the web to see other people that started growing from a seed but only found one decent site that showed the progress of the papaya tree from a seedling.

A couple of the sprouted seeds have grown past the cover so I took another bottom container just like the one I originally used and punched holes in the bottom turned it over and taped it to the other container. This should proved additional growing space to at least 8"-9".

What I would like to know is when the seed begins to grow will the seedling develop more into a tree or will these seedling just form like sprouts and never thicken.

    Thank You
