Planted a mandarin seed in 2008. Not sure which variety, came from a bag of fruit we bought for thanksgiving dinner.
Put the tree in the ground in SW Florida last year. Spiny, no blossoms.
I know that a seeded tree may not bear fruit for years.
Is it possible to graft(bud) a 5 year old tree?

You could top work the citrus tree into a sort of fruit salad by grafting (buds)
on different branches with different varieties on each branch.
Most likely the lower part of the tree is too woody at typical budding height
    to take (accept) the graft.

    saltcedar,
    Thank you for the reply.
I will assume that the unbarked growth is still graftable.
    Interesting,,,,more than one variety.
    I'll try it.
