This plant is along the sidewalk at a few houses on Hollywood Crescent in Victoria --that's at the end of Dallas Road, very close to Juan de Fuca Strait. It's a pretty dry, rocky, warm area with sea breezes. Can anyone help me with ID? The yellow-centred flowers with white edges are abundant right now and the bees love them. The plant is low-growing possibly about 8 inches high and as I said extends along the edge of the sidewalk a number of feet. Close-up of what I'd describe as "feathery" foliage is attached. I'm curious if it could be Limnanthes douglasii AKA Douglas' meadowfoam or poached egg plant that's native to California and Oregon. It does NOT appear to be an annual though. Anyone know??? Thanks!
Yes...Limnanthes douglasii. Over here we also call it Poach egg plant! Photo: Limnanthes douglasii 0. | Henriette's Herbal Homepage Some people here find that it stays green all winter. see link. Roger Brook - the no dig gardener: Plant of the Week - Limnanthes douglasii
