    Hi,
I was wonderin if anyone could tell me what the green "stuff" is on top of my soil in my green house, it also appears in my flower beds and on any dirt in my yard. The green flim is not slimy or slippery it's just stuck to the dirt. The soil is dry and damp when it appears. THXS

Sounds like you have an algae or moss problem. If the areas where this stuff is growing is constantly damp and shady (or in the case of the greenhouse, humid) that is the reason why.

You could try scraping it off but if conditions stay damp them it will most likely keep coming back.

Liverwort is another possibility. Again, regular watering as in greenhouses and well tended gardens will grow liverwort as well as our preferred plants. I've been at production nurseries where this stuff was growing in monstrous proportions, encouraged by their daily irrigation and excellent fertilization practices!

Apparently vinegar is one useful control, if you are interested in reducing it's occurence.

Thanks for the hint on controlling liverwort. It is running rampant in my yard and appreciate the info.
