I'm interested in hearing about some green/living roof projects that are coming up in the Vancouver area. I'd like to offer my skills to an interesting project that has need for me; I've studied in Ecological Landscape Design as well as Organic Gardening and currently work in the landscaping trade. I see the need for living roof spaces and would like to connect with people also interested in making it happen.
Hi Risingstar and welcome to the forum May I suggest that you google green roofs and vancouver? There's a YouTube video that features the landscape architect and the landscape contractor that were involved in the research, design and installation of the green roof on the new convention centre. You should also check out the BCIT Centre for Architectural Ecology and the Light House Sustainable Building Centre on Granville Island. There are a few examples around town. I believe there is a small green roof in Brae Island Regional Park in Langley. Also, there are greenwalls at the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre and at Whole Foods on Cambie & 8th Avenue.
