My neighbor gave me some green pear shaped fruits? I do not think they are fruits
inside is white and a bland taste. It seems more like a root or tuber. Now it is sprouting hairlike roots at the bottom and a stem with leaves at top. What is it?

I'm betting chayote or christophene or chocho. Sechium edule. It's a vegetable that can actually be quite sweet and melon like.

I've discovered what the green pear shaped food was. It is being sold at the commissary where I work. It is a type of squash. I forgot the name. I will find out Sunday.
