I was diggin up a portion of my lawn this past weekend and found some large green grubs. I killed them, but am curious as to exactly what they were. I searched this forum and tried to google them but to no avail. Sorry, I didn't take photos, and since I'm not a fan of bugs, I didn't spend a long time looking at them. The best I can describe them is this: big fat green grubs. :) The area of lawn I found them in was between a magnolia tree and cedar hedging.
If anyone knows what they are, or could be, I would really appreciate the help.
    Thanks!
    Monica

Sounds to me like they might just be big caterpillars or a green variety of cut worm.

I often find such critters and wonder how on earth they managed to survive the winter since my assumption is that all caterpillar type larvae are cocooned during the winter ?
