My mom gave me a plant that I can't identify. I have looked everywhere online and can't find it. It has a hard brown stem that is about as big around as small sharpie. The leaves when they start are long deep green with a pinkish purple edge. As the leaves mature the deep green goes away and they become more of the pinkish purple color. It isn't a Josephs coat which is what I've been told. Please help me. This plant is very special to me and was given to us when my grandfather passed on. I've even looked at funeral plants to try to identify it. I want to give it the best care I can, but I need to know what it is first. Thanks.
Please give us a photo! You have already taken the first step in good plant care: to seek out information. I daresay that one of our members might be able to name your plant just on the info above---with a photo, this is a certainty. Cordyline terminalis, Ti Plant, perhaps? Good thing you said it is NOT an Alternanthera---'Party Time' was my first guess. Sorry for your loss. We will try our best to help you take good care of your plant. Welcome to the Forum!
here are the pictures. It is close to a joseph's coat but I couldn't find a variety that was close to the type of leaves this has.
Thank you so much! I looked it up and you are right! Now I give this special plant all the care and love it deserves!
