Hello everyone, I am out here looking for any one who could help me on my quest to find a name for a tree, so I might once again have a good home grown peach. So if you shall deside to join the Quest for the Peach of Memories, please bare with me a moment, whilst I regale you with a tale that hails from generations past. How far back this tales history truly goes I am unsure, but for now I will tell you howi have heard it told. I take you now to my father's grandpa's land down in floyd county KY. As the story goes, he had a big ol' peach tree that had either been growing there for sometime or he had found it, or maybe it was a gift and he had planted down by the old well. He was good with plants of all kind, but this tree was his pride. It had deep red leaves and the peaches were red as well. And they were sweeter and softer then any from other trees. But they were not red all the way through. The skin was a nice red, and after the first bite you would see this yellow orenge redish collor and right around the pit was the deep red of blood. They were soft enugh that the friut pulled easly away from the pit. That was his tree. As his kids got older and married off he gave each a cutting from the tree. My mamaw move up to ohio and took one with her and when my dad got married and moved to maryland, she gave him one.and it grow in our back yard for almots 12 years, but then a hurricain came and split it in two. We tried to get anouther cuttliing as well as some seedlings, but none would take. 2 years after ours had past, my mamaw's tree met a similer end but due to a nasty blizzered. That was about 8 years ago. We have tried but can not find peaches nor even a tree like that again. The peaches from round here just don't compare. But quest goes on. And now it has reached out to you, in hopes someone might have knowlage that can put me on the right path to finding peach of memories.
