Hi! Does anyone know what plant this is, and whether it's difficult to grow?

They were about 6ft tall, around a lake, in the UK.

    Thanks!

Phragmites australis (Common Reed). Very easy to grow in wet soil or water up to 20cm or so deep; simplest is to just transplant in a section of roots in the winter. If you want to read up on it, type 'reedbed creation' into google, you'll get lots of hits.

One thing to watch for - once it gets going, it can spread up to 4-5 metres per year by rhizomes. Keeping a reedbed small isn't easy!

    Great for wildlife, though.
