Yesterday I sowed some seed on my front lawn. Now what? Do I water it often? Am I suppose to flatten out the seed or just leave it sit on top of the soil. Thanks very much. I hope a big wind doesn't come up and blow it all away. LOL

Yeah, just keep the seeds from drying out too much. Keeping them moderately moist will keep the wind from blowing them away. If you will really want to assist both, sprinkle a fine layer of peat moss over it. A bigger threat are seed eating birds, but you need a bunch of those for a while to do any significant harm.

Min. germination temperature for grass seeds is 13^C or 55^F. If you have that for a few hrs/day, you are off to the races.
    Good luck,
    Olaf

    Hi Olaf,
Thank you very much for your reply. Yes, I did sprinkle a fine layer of peat moss on it right afterwards. I also have been keeping the grass moist. Not many birds on the lawn so far. My worse fear now is it rained heavily with snow and hail all day today. But it melted as quick as it came. Will all that harm the seeds? Or do you think it will still be okay. Thank you Olaf.

Naah Lily, grass seeds are tough (just try to get rid of them in your veggy garden). You have done all the right things, now just sit back and wait for a few days of warmish weather and your 'lawn to be' will take on a green hue. :)

Olaf, you've taken a lot of worries off my shoulders ~ Thankyou. I've never re-seeded a lawn in my life. It was a lot of hard work and I was quite proud of what I had done. I'm really happy to hear that grass seed is tough. Okay, now I'll just sit back and watch the grass grow. At my age, there's not much else to do anyway. (hahaha) Thanks again Olaf.
