   I live in San Diego and I am in the process of putting in a Mediterranean garden. I have removed the existing lawn, but there are still shoots of grass popping up, attached to very deep roots (see pic). Can someone ID this grass and tell me if there is a chemical treatment to kill the existing roots? Thanks.
