I live in Nanaimo, B.C. and have had two varities of grapevines for two years. I believe it is is time to prune/train them. Due to the warmer winter, would it be wise to start pruning now or is it too early? Should I be waiting until late February?

Have a look at Chateau Wolff, 2534 Maxey Roar, Nanaimo, or call ahead to 753 9669. Prune when they prune, but watch in case they are doing a bulk prune followed by a final. If that is the case, time yourself with their final prune. February still has the potential for a hard frost, so I'd be inclined to hold off for now. Your own micro-climate should be considered as well; being in a low spot can drop your lows by several degrees. Ralph
