Approximately, I year ago, I had a conversation with Dr. Manners concerning this very subject, and this very variety-grapefruit. A immature grapefruit tree will on occasion produce a blossom in the first or second year. This blossom will not produce a fruit, and further the tree will not bloom again for another 10 to 15 years. As has been stated on this forum many times, a grapefruit is the worst variety of citrus to grow from seed. The node count required to reach maturity for grapefruit is very high, therefore it takes 10-15 years to begin fruiting, even when planted in the ground in Florida or California. As a containerized tree, a grapefruit will probably NEVER fruit. Plant a mandarin seed, and you can enjoy fruit in 5+ years. - Millet
