Elwood Kansas? Indiana? Nebraska? What is your climate zone? If the variety is appropriate to your location, then just stand back and let it do it's job. If it's tender and you are pushing it's limits, the vines may need to be layed down and buried or mulched (and exposed again in the spring) but that's done after the vine has gone dormant. If you are too nice to it now, it won't have time to shut itself down for winter. Ralph
