I recently "inherited" a couple of gma's plants. The first I'm sure is aloe vera but I'm not sure how to care for it? Also..it has a really loose base...but that might have happened in the transport...should I repot it? I added soils and pressed it tight...but the base is still loose.
The second plant I'm clueless too...I'm guessing it's a succulent too because it's got really thick rubbery leaves. But you're the experts. The big stems are woody...if that helps.

    Thanks for any input.

Can you post some pictures? That would really help us give you a correct ID.

Ok, #1 is definitely Aloe vera. I've had mine go floopy like that for no apparent reason, but it didn't hurt them any. I'd cut out on the water for a couple of weeks to see if it firms up.

#2 is a Kalanchoe of some sort? It looks really familiar, but I can't quite place it. Cereusly Steve will probably know.

The second one looks like Kalanchoe blossfeldia perhaps.

definitely aloe vera. i agree, hold back on watering. also, it should be in very well-draining soil and the pot should have drain holes and it would do best in an unglazed clay pot. always let the soil dry out a bit and keep it from being chilled.

yes, kalanchoe for the second. bluewing probably has the variety correct. not sure. basically, since it's a succulent (like the aloe), it also needs a very well draining soil. drainage holes yes, unglazed clay is not necessary. water well and let dry a bit before watering again. this one roots very, very easily - in water it's pretty quick and you can even put the cutting right into the soil (let it dry for a day first).

you can use cactus mix for both. i'd add in a good amount of perlite for the aloe, too.
