Grandma's Plant

  1. Hi,

I was wondering if you can identify a fiery-red flower for me – or at least point me in the right direction. My grandmother had a large grouping of it growing in her yard. When she died we all though it was Mediterranean sage – but we have discovered that we were VERY WRONG! I’m starting to think she took a great secret to the grave….

It is not currently blooming. I have pictures of some dried petals/seeds from the stalk, and a picture of what the leaves look like (look very similar to the Irises that were in her yard, but the flowers are VERY different).

    Thanks!

    Melissa Dillon

Melissa--check out croscosmia for a fiery red spray of flowers over iris like leaves. I think the real red ones are the variety Lucifer.
