Is there more than one kind of trifolieta tree for grafting, and if there is which one is best for grafting Owari Satsuma's. The satsuma's will be grown in lower Alabama. I would appreciate any info available to make this a success. I plan on useing a grafting tool to make the cuts. Thankyou for your time and knowledge.......... Alabama U.S.A.
There are two types that I know of straight Poncirus trifoliata and P. t. 'Flying Dragon' a dwarf. I don't know which is better or even if both are available for grafting purposes.
Thankyou for the reply,, There is a trifoliata that grows down here , but i don't know the name of it at this time. My brother cuts his grafts with a utility knife and has a 10% success rate. A friend of mine use's the grafting cutting tool and has 90% success rate. I believe they use the same trifoliata type of tree. I told my brother about the cutting tool and he is ordering one. I plan on using the cutting tool also and if i have a good success rate i will post my results with pictures. Thankyou for the info on the two types of trifoliata's. It might be interesting to see how the dwarf trifoliata works. Thanyou again from Alabama U.S.A.
