Hi, I wonder what will happen if I graft the top of a TBM (tri. bridgesii monstrose) without an aerole on another cactus. Will it grow as a single plant, or later will it produce new aeroles and then give more pups? Thanks, and sorry for eng. errors if any.

An areole does not need to be present (it could have been damaged or removed, for example), but the vascular tissue that transports water/nutrients to the areole or growing point is.
