Hi all! Newbie here, I'm so mesmerized by this spritzy plant that just appeared in one of my big planters....it was tiny at first, I thought it was a weed (maybe it is?), then I transplanted it into it's own pot and watched it sprout waaaay up to my surprise, and then these round green buds appeared, and then WOW!! These gorgeuous purple flowers start blooming! Now I'm wondering if I should plant it in the front garden with the rest of my prized blooms...

Anyone know the name of it?

If so, is it a perenial?

How the heck did it just appear out of thin air and start growing in my planter??

I'm looking forward to hearing back, I appreciate any and all comments.

I think I"m going to get hooked on this forum sight = )...

I googled "Purple Flower" in Google Images till I found it....I "think" it's:
    Larkspur Blue (Purple)

Grown from seeds, and is an annual.
A seed must have floated from somewhere, landed in my planter pot, and sprouted into what it is.

If I'm wrong or right please let me know. Thanks!

Yup, Purple Larkspur. It may have been a gift from a passing bird, or the wind may have given it to you. You'll want to make sure you contain the seedheads, or it will really spread and you'll end up with hundreds where you only had one or two. However, if you collect the seed you can choose where it goes in the garden next season.
