I have a small house and after debating with myself for years have just removed a very large cedar tree from my front yard. Now the yard is naked.
I am looking for ideas for a modest sized attractive feature tree to include with my landscaping in the yard. Something that flowers would be great, or perhaps a Japanese Maple with gorgeous color. I hope to find something in the 20 - 30' height range with perhaps a 15' span.
I would be very appreciative of any suggestions.
    Thanks

Have you concidered a Sorbus. Flowers in spring, interesting leaves in summer, berries in the autumn, good autumn leaf colour, not to big.
There are so many to chose from. But if you go for one with white , pink or yellow berries the birds will leave the fruit alone.

Pink berries eg. Sorbus hupensis Pink Pagoda.

    White berries. eg Sorbus cashmeriana.

Yellow berries. eg. Sorbus Joseph Rock.

May be go to a Botanic garden near you, and see what trees you like the look of. You will then also know which trees grow well in your climate.
