I will be in Los Angeles next august and I'd like to visit some good maples nurseries in the area. Does anyone has good addresses for me ? Thank you ;-)
There are a few nurseries in the greater Los Angeles area that have Japanese Maples. The San Gabriel Nursury has the largest selection of Japanese Maples I have seen, including a few beautiful trees that they have planted into their gardens. the link to their site, (unforetunately, no maple pictures online): http://www.sgnursery.com/ There are a few nurserys on Sawtelle Blvd between Olympic Blvd and Santa Monica Blvd in the Brentwood/Santa Monica area of LA that have a quite a few maples, it's in a small Japanese section of Los Angeles and most are family run. You may also want to visit Huntington gardens, they have many Japanese maples, (in a japanese garden setting) as well as a great bonsai collection, artwork collection and wonderful gardens, : http://www.huntington.org/.. It's in Pasadena and well worth the visit. (north of Downtown Los Angeles) There is also the Los Angeles arboretum, :http://www.arboretum.org/.. it's in the city of arcadia which is east of pasadena.
Andre- I remembered another nursury with a good selection of Japanese Maples in the Los Angeles Area.. Frank Burkard, Jr., Owner Burkard Nurseries 690 Orange Grove Avenue Pasadena, California 626-796-4355 Lots of 8' to 10' specimens here, as well as a coral bark in the parking lot. bill
