I have read some of the advice for the goldfish plant. I will try to water & fertilize sparingly & mist the plant 2-3 times a week. My plant is currently losing leaves, drying stems & drying tips/leaves. I hope this will work, as the plant was willed to me. Thanks!

Misting a plant 2-3 times a week, or a day, is a waste of water and energy and the effect is good for about 10 mins. If the plant needs humidity, put the pot on a tray of stones and water (as wide as the foliage spreads) but never let the water touch the pot bottom, so it won't wick up and rot the roots. Why would you fertilize 'sparingly'? How gritty (fast-draining) is your soil mix? Continuing to water a plant whose top is dry to the touch when the rest of the soil is soggy from previously, because it's mostly peat moss, is not a great idea, so mixing a lot (half) of the soil with ... small aquarium gravel or even a lot of perlite will allow you to water more often without worrying too much about overdoing it.
