    Hi there,

need a bit of advice. I bought a calamondin tree a few months back and repotted it. It just began to thrive where the flowers actually produced fruit that did not fall off. The problem is, I discovered a big gnat infestation. I tried everything from drying out the pot, to using something sweet to tempt them. After searching the net and asking friends, I wound up uprooting it and washing off all the soil to get rid of the infestation. It still looks good now, but leaves are dropping off. The flowers and fruit are still on, but I am getting concerned with the leaves dropping. Should i be worried? Will the plant bounce back? Is there something else I should be doing?

I have also kept the plant relatively isolated, away from other plants for now.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

The root system will have a reduced capacity to absorb moisture because of the disturbance. The leaf drop may be the result of the tree's inability to cool the leaf during photosynthesis. Therefore I would place the tree in bright, indirect light and in a relatively cool spot. Keep the soil moist but not wet. Do not fertilize.

Thanks for the advice Junglekeeper! I live in vancouver and it currently is very warm here. I put the plant in my bathroom (the coolest place I have). It is still losing leaves, probably about 30 now. I'll keep my eye on it and I hope it survives.
