Identification: Gloeophyllum for confirmation

    Back to Iona beach this morning.
    Finally relocated the log where I shot the Gloeophyllum.
    This time I yanked one out and shot the underside.
    Hope this will give more evidence to nail the ID.

    Agreed David, you have Gloeophyllum, the gilled polypore, confirmation. Lovely "gill" pattern. It often enjoys decorticated (barkless) wood, so turns up in driftwood, lumber piles etc.
